Water Supply Transmission Pipeline

City of Stephenville

Project Details

The City of Stephenville selected Provenance Engineering to provide design, bid and construction phase services for a new water supply system. As part of the overall project, a Water Supply Transmission Pipeline bid package was completed. The engineering services provided included surveying, geotechnical, process mechanical, civil, electrical, instrumentation & control.

PROJECT COMPONENTS:
  • 23,500 LF of Collection Pipeline
  • 7,500 LF of Transmission Pipeline
  • Flow Metering
  • Pressure Sustaining Valve

Challenges

The City wanted to evaluate alternative pipe materials against the traditional pipe material options to decrease long term maintenance. The pipeline was sized to address immediate needs as well as future water supply expansion. The transmission line passed through a TXDOT right of way, and Provenance handled the TXDOT coordination and permitting requirements.

Solutions

Provenance Engineering bid traditional pipeline materials directly against an alternative pipe material. The City decided to accept the alternative pipe material for lower maintenance cost and increased long-term durability. The project was completed within two years, which was three months ahead of schedule.
