536 Well Field Development

City of Stephenville

Project Details

The City of Stephenville selected Provenance Engineering to provide design, bid and construction phase services for a new water supply program. As part of the overall program, a bid package for five new water supply wells was developed. The services provided included hydrogeology, process mechanical, civil, electrical, and instrumentation & control engineering.

PROJECT COMPONENTS:
  • 5 New Water Supply Wells
  • Permitting, Well Drilling, Casing, Gravel Pack
  • Pump Design, Well Head, Isolation Valves and Flow Meter
  • Hydraulic Modeling
  • Site Civil and Site Roadways
  • Well Pump Motor and Wiring, Site Lighting
  • Pump, Flow Meter, and Valve Control Instruments, SCADA Communication System

Challenges

The city had not drilled a new water well in 25 years. Provenance was tasked with permitting, completing the process for siting the wells, optimizing for long-term well field development, and coordinating with the power supplier for a new electrical transmission service.

Solutions

The Provenance Team worked with TCEQ and the Ground Water District for all permits required, coordinated with the power provider (including completing a power study), and developed the well field with future expansion including future ASR potential. A Hydraulic model was created to minimize future development disruptions and to avoid disruption of hydraulic impact on existing well field.
