Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion Study

City of Rio Vista

Project Details

Provenance Engineering was selected by the City of Rio Vista for the design, bid and construction phase services of a wastewater treatment plant expansion. The first phase included a conceptual-level study that was completed within two months. Provenance Engineering presented findings to Johnson County Commissioners Court on behalf of the City and was successful in receiving 75% of the estimated project cost in county ARPA funds.

The project includes various improvements to the Rio Vista Wastewater Treatment Plant, including adding a new headworks structure, increasing treatment capacity by 200% to meet the growth demands, and upgrading the existing process and infrastructure. Provenance Engineering was also tasked with evaluating multiple future peak flow management and new tertiary filtration options. This project is federally-funded by the CARES Act, also known as The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act.

Challenges

Designing budget conscious expansion options to an aging wastewater treatment plant to keep up with a growing population.
