New Water System Pressure Plane

City of Stephenville

Project Details

Provenance Engineering conducted a conceptual study and provided a cost estimate for the expansion of the City of Stephenville’s water distribution system. The project aims to improve water storage and pumping capacity by introducing a new distribution pressure plane. Provenance evaluated the existing Water Distribution Master Plan and identified an alternative location for a new elevated storage tank. This alternative would not only meet the City’s objectives but also expand the service area through increased elevation while maintaining required pressure and compliance with TCEQ storage standards for the existing lower pressure plane.

PROJECT COMPONENTS:
  • New Pump Station
  • New 1-MG Ground Storage Tank
  • 20,000 LF New Transmission Pipeline
  • New 1-MG Elevated Storage Tank
  • New Water Main Loop

Challenges

Key challenges included ensuring the existing pressure planes remained operational during construction and defining appropriate service area boundaries for the new pressure plane.

Solutions

Provenance Engineering assessed multiple potential sites for the elevated storage tank and provided recommendations based on topography, system pressures, and future land use. Additionally, the team reviewed the City’s master plan to identify opportunities to integrate or eliminate future CIP projects within the proposed design, optimizing the plan for efficiency and long-term success.
