Provenance Engineering was hired to upgrade the City of Hudson Oaks Winfield Lift Station to handle a large new development. The City required the developer to increase the capacity to 500 gallons per minute, and the developer engaged Provenance Engineering to perform an initial assessment to confirm that the capacity of the lift station would need to be expanded. After completion of the initial assessment, Provenance Engineering is now beginning the design of the lift station expansion along with the design of a new 2,800 LF 6-inch force main with both open cut and trenchless segments.
Challenges
Quickly analyzing the capacity of the existing lift station and determining if the existing 4-inch force main would be adequate to serve a development already under construction
Solutions
Provenance Engineering quickly assessed the City’s largest lift station that not only would serve the new development but also receives flow from two other lift stations. Provenance Engineering developed a plan to address increased flow rates and quickly worked with the developer and the City to address immediate and long-term needs.
